Location: Help / User's Guide / What is a current/old article?

We record the date when we index an article, and we use this date to determine when the article goes from being "current" to "old" (this is also the date we use to sort our listings). An article from a monthly publication becomes old after 45 days. An article from a weekly publication becomes old after 18 days. Note that we do not use the "publication" date (the date on the magazine which also appears in our article citation) for this purpose since such dates are generally imprecise and not always available. Please be aware that articles we mark as "current" are current relative to when their publishers posted them to the web, which may be considerably later than they are available in print.
